Why the two disagree is not something the certificate explains, and we do not speculate. Twenty-one of the forty-three do match. So the number’s year agrees with the grant year roughly half the time, which is the worst possible situation for a shortcut: it works often enough to look reliable. The last of those is the one case where the library says so in its own status field rather than leaving it to arithmetic. That brand’s licence status reads “term ended 2026-09-02, not re-checked”, with a note explaining that the date has passed, the entry has not been read again, and unchecked is not the same as absent. A renewal may well have been filed; we have not looked.

Three of the six belong to brands that appear nowhere else in our data with a filled field, so for those the expired entry is the whole record.
